Chicago, Jan 10 [1937] - Clarence Eddy, 86, internationally known organist and friend of composers and singers of five decades, died early today in his apartment of heart trouble and complications.
Eddy gave his last concert during the Chicago world's fair of 1934. He had been identified with practically every exposition until recent years, including the one in Vienna in 1873; Philadelphia, in 1876; Paris in 1889; Chicago in 1893, St. Louis in 1904, and San Francisco in 1915.
Born in Greenfield, Mass he gave his first concert when he was 12 years old. He studied in Berlin, Germany.
He married singer Sara Brannan Hershey (1837-1911) on Jul 1, 1879 in Chicago, IL. She established the Hershey Music School in Chicago. She died in Paris, France.
His death certificate lists his wife as Grace Morei Eddy.
According to cemetery records, his ashes were brought to Greenfield and he was interred here on July 24, 1937.
