Eugene was the second son of John and Helen Bogacz to give his life in World War II. He enlisted 31 Aug 1942 and served in the 16th Signal Operation Battalion. Eugene was a member of the landing party which made assault on the beach at Palo, Leyte, Philippine Islands on 20 Oct 1944. He was killed instantly when the landing boat in which he was riding was hit by a shell just as it reached the beach.
