John Richard Berry, 97, of Oak Avenue, Waverly, Ohio died 1:18 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Pleasant Hill Manor, Piketon, Ohio.

He was born June 24, 1916 in Bellefontaine, Ohio to the late Orla Forsythe Berry and Myrtle Isabelle (Pequignot) Berry. On June 12, 1995 John was united in marriage to Miriam June (Avery) Berry who survives.

Also surviving are stepson, Greg Voelm and wife Janette of Carmichael, California, stepdaughter, Amy Christine Kleesattel and husband Charles of Cincinnati, Ohio, 8 step grandchildren, 2 step great-grandchildren, niece Debra Minton of Colorado Springs, Colorado and great niece Kendall Minton of Colorado Springs, Colorado.

John was preceded in death by parents, first wife, Maxine (McAlexander) Berry, two brothers, Paul and Gene Berry.

John was an accountant for perfection steel body company,

He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant, 26th Division 328th Infantry Anti Tank Company.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, 25 February 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Waverly with Rev. Richard S. Hays, officiating.

Burial will follow in
