Elva Louisa Lincoln was born on Oct 24, 1907 in Branch Township, Mason County, Michigan - the daughter of Chalkley Sherman Lincoln and Isaabelle SIDES. Elva died on July 14, 1926 in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan at the tender age of 18 years old.

According to Elva's sister, Valentine (my great aunt), Elva died from complications from the birth of her son who was born on June 14, 1926.

Elva's siblings were:

Pearl (1895- ), Edward Monroe (1896-1976), Mary [adopted] (1897- ), William Harrison (1898-1972), Gladys Louella (1900-1935), Theodore Roosevelt (1904-1976), Flora Lenora (1911-1986), Minnie Mae* (1914-1988), Sarah Anna* (1914-1917), Valentine Luella (1918-2013)

*Minnie and Sarah were twins

No one in the family knew about Pearl or Mary but both appear on the 1900 census with Chalkley and Isabelle. Prior to my Aunt Val's death, I had asked her if she had ever heard of these two little girls but she said 'no' - no one had ever mentioned them. So Pearl and Mary remain a mystery to us.

At the age of 16 years old, Elva married Isaac Lafayette (c1902- ) on July 12, 1924 in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan. According to the marriage record, this was a 2nd marriage for Isaac.

Elva and Isaac had one son - Henry Sherman Lafayette born on June 14, 1926 in Flint, Michigan and died on November 6, 2002 in Otter Lake, Lapeer County, Michigan. Elva died one month after Henry's birth. Her death certificate indicates she died from embolism of lungs & brain & thrombophlebitis of iliac veins.

According to my Aunt Val, Elva is buried in Gracelawn Cemetery but she didn't indicate where. Aunt Val was 92 years old when I asked her about Elva, but Aunt Val was very with it! She was an amazing woman.
