Barbara Jean (Lyon) Parker, 70, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 17, 2013, after battling a long illness, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center of Fort Myers, Florida.
Barbara was born to Gertrude (Norris) and John Lyon on Jan. 27, 1943, in Midland. After graduating from Midland High School she married Fred Allen Parker, also of Midland, on Feb. 24, 1962. While raising their family, she enjoyed camping and participating in church activities.
She retired from Midland Public Schools after 20 years as a school bus driver. Once retired, she and her husband spent the winter months in Fort Myers, Fla. at their second home. Prior to her illness, she enjoyed playing cards, visiting casinos and sewing crafts.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Fred, of Midland; two sisters, Judy (Dan) DeLong of Bradenton, Fla., and Joanne Lyon of Midland; a brother, Bob (Marge) Lyon of Pinconning; son, Tony (Crystal) Parker of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Jerri (Rob) McGregor of St. Paul, Minn.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren all in Michigan.
