In 1857, Mary married Joseph Stangel in Manitowoc, WI; he was age 21, she was 20. This was shortly after she immigrated from Bohemia on 4 April 1856.

NOTE: the speckled marble grave marker reads "Marie Stanglova" which in Czech literally means "Mrs. Marie Stangel".
