Felix was raised in Gallup, NM. He completed premedical education at U. of Chicago and Baylor U. in Waco, TX. From 1945-1948, he attended Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, TX, a three-year program then. His surgical internship was at Parkland Memorial Hospital, Dallas, TX, from 1948-1950, and afterwards practiced general medicine in Pampa, TX, until 1966. He was a member of the American Academy of General Practice 1950-1966.

In 1966, Felix and his family returned to Dallas, TX, where he completed a radiology residency in 1969 and followed by a one-year radiation therapy internship at Baylor U. Medical Center.

Felix obtained board certification in radiology in 1970. He practiced with Radiology Associates of Dallas and Baylor U. Medical Center from 1970 until his retirement in 1985.

Felix is survived by wife, Dr. Doris Deal Vendrell, whom he married on June 12, 1948, and their four children Michael Vendrell, MD (radiology), Kathleen V. Rankin, DDS, Paul Vendrell, PhD, 1954-2008, and Amelia Vendrell, MD.
