Place of Birth: Ackley, Iowa
Death: June 18, 2010
Place of Death: Folsom, California

Rachel Clara Early aged 84, of Cameron Park California passed away June 18th 2010 at Folsom Mercy Hospital in Folsom CA. She came to the end of a struggle with the devastation of cardiac arrest, and passed away with her two daughters at her side.

Rachel was the middle child of five; her parents were Peter and Clara Kramer. She was born on June 12, 1926 in Ackley Iowa and received her elementary and high school education, starting high school at the age of 12, in Dumont Iowa. After graduation her biggest adventure was a short time in California with her married sister, Gladys Witt and her family. Rachel worked briefly as a Van de Kamps counter girl before returning to Iowa where she married her high school sweetheart Howard Claire Early on December 21, 1946 following his return from the army. They lived and farmed in Iowa until 1958 when the family moved to California.

Rachel and Claire were married for 58 years before he succumbed to lung cancer on February 25, 2005. Claire and Rachel were blessed with two daughters, Nancy (Steve) Morris and Lynn (Bob) Koenigs, all of Cameron Park. There are five grandchildren, Jeremy Koenigs, Rebecca (Scott) Armstrong, Ethan (Karri) Koenigs, Emily (Ricky) O'Neal and Sarah Koenigs. There are eight great grandchildren: Allison O'Neal, Cameron and Jillian Armstrong, Ella and Isaac Koenigs, and Payton, Aubrey and Lauren Koenigs.

Rachel's sister Arlene Trautman of Marshalltown Iowa survives, along with many nieces and nephews. Sister Gladys Witt, and brothers John Kramer and Albert "Bobby" Kramer predeceased Rachel.

Rachel was a homemaker all her life. She was an expert at crossword puzzles and word games, and came to computers and email in her late 70's. The emails flowed, although she still wrote letters to friends and family. She loved reading, something she shared with Claire and passed on to her family. She enjoyed several daily newspapers, what she said were "too many" magazines and talk radio. Lunches and shopping outings were treats she loved, and playing the piano by ear was something she enjoyed for many years.

Rachel left an indelible mark on her family; she was at the heart of every family get together, and will be so greatly missed.
