Age 78, son of the late George and Grace
Sill Steff.

He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and attended Gannon University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the African and Italian campaigns. He served as a chief petty officer in the Coast Guard Reserve. Mr. Steff worked at the Times Publishing Co. for 30 years and was assistant advertising manager. He wrote a boating column called "Anchors Away." He was a member of the Erie Yacht Club and a former member of the Newspaper Guild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Steff.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Christina Nakich Steff; four sons, John M. Steff and his wife, Judith, and William Steff, all of Erie, James C. Steff and his wife, Jane, of State College, Pa., and Robert G. Steff and his wife, Cindy, of Lancaster, Mass.; a sister, Doris Heard of Erie; two brothers, Gilbert Steff of California and Richard Steff of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
