Samuel David Cannon, son of David and Nancy Ann [née Johnson] Cannon, was born in the bounds of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newberry County, South Carolina.

He married Miss Christina Eichelberger, a daughter of John and Anna Barbara [née Lyles] Eichelberger in 1822. This union was blessed with the following known children:
