John was born in Tarrytown, NY to John Calvin Bell and Pauline Anna Glass. They lived at 18 Short St. He worked for Gristedes Grocery while attending Manhattan College. Inducted into the Army on February 24, 1943 in New York, he served in World War II in Germany, France, and the Pacific. John served with the Army Corps. of Engineers and with the Military Police.
John married Marie Grejtak February 11, 1961 in Maplewood, NJ and they were blessed with two children.
He retired from AT&T (Western Electric) in Omaha. He and his beautiful bride moved from Omaha to Florida for their retirement. They spent many years traveling around the world, seeing new places and experiencing new cultures.
John was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a loving grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marie; one daughter; one son, John (Michele); four grandchildren; one sister; and one brother.
John was cremated and he is now with his family. He will be buried at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery soon.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
