John Wiley Garrison was born to Absolom and Mary Isabelle (Jackson) Garrison on May 2, 1868. John was raised and attended schools in Stone County, Missouri.

September 2 1899, John married Martha May Pearce. Two of his brother also married two of Martha's sisters:
Joseph Robert married Ollie Belle Pearce August 1893
Thomas Franklin married Mary Ada Elizabeth Pearce

Thomas and John moved to North Idaho shortly after June 13, 1900. They settled in the Colburn/Elmira area where they worked in the woods as loggers and woodsmen.

John and Martha had 15 children. Those children not linked are:
