Mary Castle, 83, of North Branch, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at Lapeer County Medical Facility.

She was born Jan. 20, 1922, in Bad Axe, to Stanley and Mabel (Cunningham) Waldon. She married Wells F. Castle on Feb. 21, 1940.

She attended school at North Branch, class of 1940. She retired from Oakdale Regional Center after many years of service. She enjoyed working on crafts, spending time and visiting with her family, grandchildren and friends. She was a charter and life member, as well as past president of the North Branch American Legion Auxiliary Unit 457. She was a member of the North Branch Historical Society, North Branch Eastern Stars and the North Branch Days Committee.

She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn (Bill) Welke of North Branch and Beth (Randy) Shoemaker of Oklahoma; sons, Alfred (JoeAnn) Castle, John Castle and Dave (Duan) Castle, all of North Branch, and Bob (Linda) Castle of California; brother, Bernard (Jackie) Waldon of Texas; sister-in-law, Thelma Crawford of North Branch; brother-in-law, John L. Castle of Muskegon; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wells, in 1998; parents, Stanley and Mabel (Cunningham) Waldon; brother, John Waldon, in World War II; sister, Elenore, in 1997; and two great-granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for use at their discretion.

Funeral services were Saturday (June 11) at Blackburn Chapel-Martin Funeral Home, North Branch.The Rev. Wayne Ferrigan officiated. Burial twas in North Branch Burlington Cemetery.
