Marie C. Kuper, 91, of Columbus died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at her home.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan, 6, 2006, at 1:30 P.M. at the Federated Church in Columbus.

Mrs. Kuper was born Marie Catherine Bay on July 6, 1914, in Hooper, the daughter of Brainard George Bay and Ruth Cowan Bay. She was the second child in a family of 10, and the eldest daughter.Mrs. Kuper graduated from Hooper High School in 1932 and entered the Methodist School of Nursing in Omaha, from which she graduated in 1936. She then worked as a surgical floor supervisor at the Methodist Hospital until her marriage to Dr. Herbert D. Kuper on Jan. 9, 1938.The couple lived for a short time in Kenesaw, and then in Leigh, where Dr. Kuper practiced medicine until 1947. During the early years of their marriage, Mrs. Kuper often accompanied her husband on house calls and home deliveries of babies, working as his nurse assistant.Following the births of their own children, and their subsequent move to Columbus, in 1947, Mrs. Kuper was a devoted church and community worker. She was a Brownie Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, Federated Church Sunday School superintendent, PTA member, and a 50-year member of Chapter FJ of the PEO Sisterhood, of which she was a past president.

Mrs. Kuper is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dr. David and Lea Kuper of Council Bluffs, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, Karlyn and Dick Carson of Studio City, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Rev. David Yochum of Whitewater, Wis.; grandchildren, Leigh Anne (Mrs. Dave) Koehler of Papillion, Ryan Kuper of Los Angeles, Steven (Sarah) Yochum of Minnetonka, Minn., Jeffrey Yochum of Madison, Wis.; great-granddaughter, Meredith Anne Koehler of Papilliontwo brothers, Dean (Joy) Bay of York and Raymond (Karen) Bay of Morrison, Colo.; nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
