spent his childhood years growing up in Wallaceburg. As a young man he became an apprentice in the tool and die trade where he had a long career with employment in both Chatham and Wallaceburg, including for H.E. Vannatter, where he spent many years as the plant manager until his retirement in 1998. In 1954 he married Shirley Lawrence and they lived 55 happy years of their lives together in Chatham, Wallaceburg, and Dawn Township, until her death in 2009. He was actively involved in the church and held several positions of leadership with the Gideons. He is survived by his three children: Lonnie (Janice) Aarssen, Julie (David) Ciarvella, and Carol (Robert) Steele; eight grandchildren: Jonathan Aarssen, Benjamin Aarssen , Amber Langefels, Jessie Keim, Marcie Reynolds, William Kerr, Kathryn Kerr, and Samuel Kerr; six great grandchildren: Tristen Aarssen, Aubrey Keim, Olivia Keim, Ava Keim, Kelly Kerr, and Addison Langefels; brothers: Raymond Aarssen (predeceased), Arthur Aarssen and Robert Aarssen; sisters: Johanna Dawdy and Sally Lucier;
