J. Charles Hayes, 80, of Easley, SC, died Saturday, December 3, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital.

He was a lifelong resident of Easley, where he met his wife, Doris, and fathered their loving children. Mr. Hayes was a man of great generosity and integrity. Though Charles may have passed on to be with his Lord, his love and spirit remain in the hearts of family and friends.

Mr. Hayes was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church where he belonged to the Lucille Searcy Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Doris Mulkey Hayes of the home; a daughter, Jan Lucas and her husband, George, of Simpsonville; a son, Roger and his wife, Faye, of Mooresville, N.C.; three grandchildren, Robert Gibson and his wife, Sha, Stephanie Dillon and husband, Jonathan, and Laura Hayes; a great-grandson, Charlie Dillon.

Mr. Hayes was predeceased by his parents, Claude and Leila Alexander Hayes, a son, Joseph, and two sisters, Myrtle Poole and Mildred Oliver.

Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2005 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Rev. David Bauknight and the Rev. Jack Caldwell officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
