Mrs. Evelyn Holloway Duck, 78, of Lanett died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.

Funeral services are scheduled Friday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Rev. Roy Bain officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Duck is survived by her husband, Hurchel C. Duck; her daughter, Shirley (Richard) Baines of Columbus; two grandchildren, Heather Dixon and Glenn Johnston; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Johnston, Brianna Dixon, Tiffany Dixon, Christopher Dixon and Anthony Dixon; two sisters, Christine (David) Holladay of Valley and Ethel Raye of Winter Haven, Fla.; and one brother Loyd (Katherine) Holloday of Sharpsburg, Ga.

Mrs. Duck was born April 17, 1927 in Milltown, Ala., the daughter of the late Myrtle Lee Clack Holloway and Marion John Holloway.

Mrs. Duck was inducted into the WestPoint Pepperell 50 Year Club in 1994. She was a member of Plant City Baptist Church and was a volunteer at George H. Lanier Memorial Nursing Home, working with the residents on sewing, quilting and making crafts. Mrs. Duck served as a dedicated volunteer for Chattahoochee Hospice for the past 10 years, averaging 300 hours of service each year. As recently as last week, she was at the office quilting and helping to pack Valentine bags for hospice patients. Mrs. Duck was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also involved in fund-raising activities for hospice.

The family receive friends Thursday, Feb. 16 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
