Obituary - Ina Mercedes Richards Iverson Kiepe, age 96, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2006.

She was born February 9, 1910 in Portland, Oregon to LeGrand Richards and Ina Jane Ashton, the oldest of their eight children.

She accompanied her parents to Holland at the age of four, where she found people speaking a new language. She quickly learned to speak Dutch and after three years in Holland she returned to Salt Lake City where she attended Ensign School, then LDS High School. She received her teaching certificate from the University of Utah where she was affiliated with Chi Omega sorority, and then taught kindergarten and second grade at Hawthorne Elementary School.

She married Joseph Grant Iverson January, 1931 and they had three children. He passed away July 11, 1969.

She married Werner Kiepe October 5, 1971. They served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where they purchased a mission home. He passed away December 9, 1966.

She enjoyed watching sports on TV, being a true fan of the U of U and the Utah Jazz.

She was a faithful member of the LDS Church having served in many capacities collection friends from each. She particularly enjoyed serving for many years on the Primary General Board.

She was known for her frankness, bargain hunting, entertaining, knitting, tenneriffe embroidery, candle making, English toffee, and worldwide collectibles from her many travels.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her children, Carla (Duane) Welling, Craig (Charlene) Iverson, and J. Scott (Gloria) Iverson; and stepchildren, Barbara Rosse and Widtsoe Kiepe; 11 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; sister, Norrine Richards Callister, and brothers, G. LaMont Richards and Alden R. Richards.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at The Inn at Barton Creek and also hospice for their tender loving care. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
