Mrs. Elizabeth R. Gerl, 77, of 1012A Columbus St., Manitowoc, died Friday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been a patient a day.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Ralph Gillis will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mrs. Gerl, nee Handl, was born May 5, 1887, at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Albert and Mary Bertler Handl. She was graduated from West Side High School in 1904 and from Manitowoc County Teachers College in 1906. Mrs. Gerl taught two years in Manitowoc County rural schools and 15 years at Garfield School, Manitowoc. She was married to Richard A. Gerl Aug. 4, 1919, at St. Boniface Church. He died Sept. 14, 1947. Mrs. Gerl was a member of St. Ann Christian Mothers Altar Society of St. Boniface Church.
She is survived by three sisters, Miss Rose Handl, Mrs. Walter Baetke and Mrs. Viola Mueller, of Manitowoc, a brother, Albert Handl, of Milwaukee, and nieces and nephews. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. by members of the parish and St. Ann Christian Mothers Altar Society.
