July 13, 1936 - February 20, 2014

John Manuel Anselmo, 77, of Carlsbad, passed away peacefully Friday February 20, 2014, with his family by his side.

John was born to the late Manuel and Elizabeth Anselmo on July 13, 1936 in Somerville, Massachusetts. After John's father passed away at a young age, John worked very hard at odd jobs to help his family survive. On January 17, 1959, John Married Vila Noddin and they lived in several places before settling in Oceanside, California, where he resided for 41 years.

As soon as John was old enough, he joined the United States Marine Corps where he achieved the rank of E-7 Gunnery Sergeant over his 20 year career. John loved his country and fought hard to defend it. His career included one tour in Okinawa and 2 tours in Vietnam. After his retirement from the Marine Corps, John began his second career at La Costa Resort and Spa where he worked for another 20 years.
