Newspaper clipping: Friday, Feb. 6, 1914 "Palouse Republic" newspaper. Buried Monday, Feb. 2, 1914.

First photograph is before she married, but don't know the year this was taken.

Second photograph is her wedding photo. She married Austin Goodwin Broton in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sept 4, 1890.

Together they had the following children:
Jeanette Broton (1891- Mar 29, 1891)
Jennie Broton Austin (1892-1970)
Alice Mary Broton Morford (1894-1969)
John Edward Broton (1897-1974)
James Bernard Broton (1899-1958)
Raymond H Broton (1901-1972)
Louise M Broton Barber (1903-1997)
Rose Cecilia Broton Simpson (1905-1999)

In addition to general nursing, Maggie was a midwife and took a baptism kit with her to baptize the newborns if needed. Maggie's great granddaughter, Beverly, now has the kit. She sent the following information to me. "In those days, babies didn't always survive birth or only a short period of time afterwards. So Maggie provided a baptism if necessary. There is also a Holy Communion paten (plate) in the kit so she may have given communion to the mothers. Not sure about that but the Cross, candle sticks, cup for pouring water, plate and small brush are all silver plate. I looked on the back of the pouring cup and found marks that said it was a 'SICK CALL OUTFIT SPECIAL H, patented in April '97' which seems to refer to 1897."

Note: Although the cemetery has no record of her as of 2013 and there is no current headstone, at least one family member remembers visiting her grave at Potlach Cemetery in the 1950s.

I've yet to find a cemetery with perfect records. And every cemetery has a number of unknowns in their boundaries. So I do believe she is buried here.

***A special thank you to Janet Barstow for finding the newspaper notice. You are the best! And thank you to Kerry Rae Moser (who told me the cemetery has no record and there is no marker) and Hannah Crawford for all your help and support. You gals in Washington & Idaho are the greatest.
