Funeral services for Charles K. Bridger, 21, of Hartwick Seminary, were at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 5, at the Ingalls, Connell and Dow Funeral Home, Cooperstown, with the Rev. John R. Sise, adminstrator of St. Mary's Church, Cooperstown, officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Index. Mr. Bridger died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 3, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born August 27, 1951, in Cooperstown, a son of Herman and Kathleen (Pankenhorn) Bridger. He was graduated from Cherry Valley Central School in 1971. He entered the United States Navy immediately upon graduation and at the time of his death was stationed as a radio man aboard the Destroyer U.S.S. Basilone operating from Boston, Mass. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Cooperstown; Walter P. Eggleston Post, VFW, and Clark F. Simmons Post, American Legion, both of Cooperstown. Surviving are his father and his stepmother, Mrs. Ida Mae Bridger, Hartwick Seminary; a sister, Miss Melinda S. Bridger, Middlefield; two stepsisters, Mrs. Michael (Laura) Page, Cooperstown, and Miss Judy Karkowski, Hartwick Seminary; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Anna Plankenhorn, Middlefield; his paternal grandfather, Herbert Plankenhorn, Middlefield; a great-grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Page, Cherry Valley; several aunts, uncles and cousins."
