Eula Faye was born in now vanished town of Tupelo, Texas, to the late L.P. and Eula Reid Threet. She was a graduate of Navarro College, summa cum laude, with an Associate Business Degree, and obtained Certified Professional Secretary status in 1964. She and Clay Norwood were married on May 31, 1964. Shortly thereafter they bought Superior Ice and Foods and discontinued that business and started Corsicana Overhead Door and Corsicana Answering Service at the same location.
Eula Faye was a charter member of the Corsicana Chapter International Secretaries Association, 100F Rebekah Lodge #128, and was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church; she was currently a member of Second Avenue Baptist Church. She had served as Sunday School Teacher, church clerk, church reporter, treasurer, youth director, and visitation chairperson in various churches over the years. She was Baptist through the years, and had a great love for Southern Gospel Music and sang with various groups at nursing homes over the years. She and her husband also sang duets in church and in nursing homes during their married life. Eula Faye was receptionist and later office manager for C.L. (Buster) Brown and his father for over 28 years.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline French Stuard; grandparents, J.B. and Ada Jane Miller Reid and C.H. and Virginia Smotherman Threet; uncles, Walker Threet and Brove Reid; aunts: Mamie Drain, Gertrude Combs, Callie Barnes and Dool Fitzgerald; numerous cousins and other relatives.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, E.C. "Clay" Norwood; sons, Sam Norwood and wife, Sabrina, of Questa, NM, and John Paul Norwood and fiancée, Laura Houghton, of Palestine; grandsons, Tyler Norwood and wife, Alana, and Daniel Norwood, of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughters, Samantha Norwood, of Albuquerque, NM, and Sabra Burnett and husband, Josh, of Ft. Hood; sisters, Frances Walker, of Ft. Collins, CO, and Cherry Layfield, of Waxahachie; and good friend, Linda Fannin, of Corsicana.
