Troy Daily Whig
Troy, Rensselaer County, New York.
May 1851

DIED

At his residence in Brunswick, on the 7th instane, Charles Derrick, Esq., aged 55 years.

To those who knew the deceased it were useless to say anything in his commendations, since anything could not add to the real worth and dignity of his character. Seldom has the almighty giver of life seen fit in his inscrutable providence, to recall to himself one who one who has left behind him a fairer name or a mere spotless reputation. As good and enterprising citizen, a true friend, a kind relative, a kind father and a dutiful son, there are few who can compare with him. His loss will long be felt and lamented in his circle of his numerous acquaintances, in the hearts of his own family it has left a vacancy that can never be filled.

" The sweet remembrance of the just,
Shall flourish when he sleeps in dust."

******************************

Original burial was in "Derrick Cemetery" which was believed to have been on "Bald Mountain Road". According to Judy Rowe these burials were removed to "Oakwood Cemetery" in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York. Time frame of removal unknown.
