Mrs. Mary Louise Sawyer, 44, who had been a patient in Barnes Hospital, St. Louis, for a month for treatment of a heart ailment, prior to Saturday, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday at her home in Godfrey.
She was the wife of Claude Sawyer, an employee of Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation.
Mrs. Sawyer had lived at the Godfrey home for 19 years and had been active in work of Lutheran Womens Mission League of Faith Lutheran Church, and Godfrey School Parent-Teacher Association.
The former Mary Louise Sarginson, she was born August 19, 1921 at Medora. Her parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Sarginson.
She attended the Medora Schools and on September 30, 1939, was married in St. Louis to Claude Sawyer. They had lived in Alton before moving to Godfrey.
Beside her husband she is survived by two sons, Marshall, 11, and Daniel, 12 of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Eugene Wieseman, Bunker Hill, and Mrs. Kendall Kahl, Alton; three brothers, John Chesterfield; Vernon and Clyde, Medora; three sisters, Mrs. Melba Searless, St. John, MO, and Mrs. Martha Garner and Mrs. Helen Dipialia, Wood River along with four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in Faith Lutheran Church, Godfrey, where she was a member, with the Rev. James Nickel officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.
The body is at Gent Chapel where friends may call after p.m. Friday and until Saturday noon when the body will be taken to the church.
