local Man Found Dead
A local man died of a self-inflicted gunshot
wound in the head in his home Saturday.
Gerald R. Adams, 62, 1216 Sycamore St., was
found lying on the floor of the entrance foyer
by his wife Gladys at about 3:50 p.m. Sunday.
He had been dead since 10 a.m. Saturday of
the self inflicted wound, according to Cass
County Coroner Louis Marocco.
Logansport police were notified of the death
after Mrs. Adams called the Cass County
Ambulance Service from the home of a neighbor.
Investigating the incident were Sgt. Richard
Kaufman and Patrolmen Richard Wells, Claud
Bailey and Jerry Denny.
Born September 19,1916, in Cass County, he
was the son of Harley D. and Marie Downing
Adams.
He was married in 1962, to Gladys Patty, who
survives.
He had retired in 1976 as an engineer with
Con Rail. He was a member of the Baptist
Temple, the Royal Center Lodge 585 F.
& A.M., Phi Delta Chapter No. 58 of the
Order of the Eastern Star, and the Fort
Wayne Valley Scottish Rite.
Other survivors include one daughter,
Barbara Jones, Colorado Springs. Colo.:
three sons, Richard, Fairfield, Calif.: Robert, Knoxville,
Tenn.; and John, High Point, N.C.; one sister,
Fern Carnes, Yipsalanta, Calif.; a half sister,
Norms Jean Lawson, New Carlisle; a half
brother, James Neal, Atlanta, Ga.; 11 grand-
children and two greatgrandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at
the Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. E. Clyde
Mayfield officiating. Burial will be in
Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon on Tuesday.
