James Leonard "Papa" Light, 61, of Leavenworth, Kan. passed peacefully from this earth on March 14, 2014. James was born to James Vernon and Audrey Light on September 9, 1952 in Norristown Pa. In 1970 he joined the U.S. Navy, later being stationed in Antigua and at Norfolk, Va. There he met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Conklin) on July 9, 1977. After an honorable discharge from the Navy he followed his wife wherever her military career took them. James worked as a carpenter on Fort Leavenworth for 20 years where he was active in his union, AGFE Local 0738. As his children grew he became active in Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts. James loved the Green Bay Packers and the Leavenworth Pioneers; he could be seen quite often cheering on his favorite teams.

James is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elizabeth, and their five children. Rachel (Lance) Borman, Deborah (Ryan) Rogers, Jessica (Jason) Carter, Cristina (Caleb) Clay, and Zachary (Taylor Pfettscher) Light. James also has twelve grandchildren Annabelle, Mathew, Jacob, Landon, Bradley, Nathan, Andrew, Jordan, McKenna, Kaiden, Madison, and Connor. James is also survived by his two sisters Phyliss (Terry) Herman, and Verna Aversano, and numerous niece and nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday March 18th from 5-8pm, at Davis Funeral Chapel located at 531 Shawnee St, Leavenworth, KS 66048. Celebration Of Life service will be held Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Life Connection Church. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
