He was born July 23, 1899, at Strawn, a son of David and Sarah Bachman Amacher.
He married Selma Whitlow in 1924. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, Charles, Champaign; a daughter, Phyllis Hamilton, St. Louis, five grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Amacher was a former superintendent of schools in Argenta, and retired in 1964 from the Odell school system. He was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association, Argenta Masonic Lodge No. 871 and Argenta United Methodist Church.
