Mrs. Elizabeth Adams, widow of John U. Adams, editor and publisher of the Hagerstown Daily News which later became the Morning Herald, died yesterday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. R. Rudy, The Terrace, after an illness of a few hours, aged 87 years.

She was the daughter of the late Isaac Derne of Frederick County. She had a kindly and lovable disposition which endeared her to a host of friends. She was the oldest member both in years and membership of the Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by the following daughters: Miss Sarah Adams and Mrs. Harry Robert Rudy, Hagerstown; Mrs. Clyde H. Wilson, Baltimore, and the following grandchildren: Harry R. Rudy, Jr., Mrs. Maurice Jones, Baltimore: Miss Jeraldine Leaman [sic Seaman], Chicago; and two great grandchildren, Mary and Daniel Plank, Chicago.

The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon, services from the home at 2 o'clock by Rev. Dr. William S. Hess. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Hagerstown Daily Mail 23 February 1932

NOTES: Two of their other daughters are buried here: Rose Ethel Adams Seaman and Florence Elizabeth Adams Plank. I believe their daughter Mary Adams Wilson may be buried in the cemetery of St. Paul's Reformed Church, Clear Spring, Washington Co., Md.
