Verna M. Dowell, age 94, of 674 Forge Road, Mountain City, TN passed away
Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the residence of her son in Kingsport, TN. She was
born February 27, 1920 in Shouns, TN to the late Wesley Dunn and Emma Roark
Dunn. She worked with her husband on the farm, worked at Blue Ridge Shoe Plant
where she retired after 16 years, was a housewife and mother. Verna was a member
of Appalachian Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, gardening, her flower
garden, quilting and especially enjoyed the outdoors. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Dowell; three
brothers: Jasper Dunn, Cecil T. Dunn and Victor Dunn; a very special friend,
Jackie Horne; and niece’s husband, Edward Wyatt.

Survivors include one son; one granddaughter; one grandson; four great grandsons; seven special friends; and several nieces and nephews.
