William Paul Bancroft, was born October 6, 1896, in Columbus, Ohio to Alvah H and Florence Isabell (Paul) Bancroft. He passed away at age 23, of blood poisoning resulting from an operation for the removal of his tonsils on October 22, 1919, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
William was a 1918. graduate of Ohio State University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. He was most active and popular around the university and the manager of Makeo. William had only been in law school at Harvard University a week at the time of his untimely death.
With the rank of lieutenant, William served overseas in the United States Army.
William is survived by his parents, Alvah and Florence Bancroft.
