He was born before 25 April 1610 (date christened) at Schwaigern, Heilbronn, Duchy of Wurttemberg, Holy Roman Empire (German) (now Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany), the son of Georg and Anna Willheit. He died there 13 November 1685, and was buried in the churchyard of (known then as) St. Anne & St. John the Baptizer Church in Schwaigern. In Schwaigern on 12 July 1640, he married Barbara Lutz, daughter of Johannes and Anna (Flamm) Lutz. George and Barbara were parents of nine children: Georg, Anna Elisabetha, Johann Michael, Barbara, Magdalena, Catherina, Matthias, Samuel, and Johannes. (Children believed to be in order of birth.)

After Barbara died Georg married on 3 October 1675 in Schwaigern to Anna Maria, widow of Matthias Ehrens, a soldier.

On Georg's baptismal entry it refers to him as "Schwarz-Georg" (Black Georg). This nickname suggests he had a swarthy complexion and may have been used to distinguish him from other Georgs living at the time. His occupation was shown as "Gerichsverwandt" or court official, possibly a lawyer.

Data provided per records located by a late Bumgardner cousin during visits to Schwaigern and my research.
