Funeral service for 1SGT (ret) Vendall M. Brigance, 84, of Lawton will be at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Brigance passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 in Lawton.

Burial with full military honors will be at Post Cemetery, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Vendall was born on December 4, 1929 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Claude and Allie (Hurt) Brigance. He grew up in Morris, Oklahoma where he graduated from Morris High School in 1948. He attended Connors State University and joined the Army National Guard and was later activated into the United States Army where he served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War receiving many medals and awards before retiring in 1979. He married Gisela Werle on May 25, 1957 in Germany. Mr. Brigance returned to college, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Cameron University. He worked for number of years at the Education Center with Civil Service at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He was a member of the India Shriners and a 32nd Degree Mason. Vendall was an animal lover who cared for dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Gisela, of the home; his daughter, Patty Brigance, of Greenville, TX; four sons and three daughters in law, Ray Brigance, of Dallas, TX, John and Kathryn Brigance, of Norman, OK, Chuck and M.J. Brigance, of Flower Mound, TX, and Michael and Laurie Brigance, of Dallas, TX; two brothers and sisters in law, Neil and Virginia Brigance, of Morris, OK and Bud and Letha Brigance, of Fort Gibson, OK; his sister and brother in law, Wanda and Thomas Payne, of Tulsa, OK; four grandchildren, Michael Brigance, Brice Brigance, Megan Brigance and Tori Brigance; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ollie Jean Brigance.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the India Shriner's Children's Hospital at 3601 NW 36th Street, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73112 or to the Humane Society of Lawton-Comanche County at PO Box 3134, Lawton, Oklahoma 73502.
