Leonore T. Burke, 89, of Caledonia, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at DRMC after a lengthy illness.
She was born April 28, 1923, daughter of the late Bert and Mern (Carter) Murphy.
She married Robert E. Burke and he preceded her in death in 1989.
She was a graduate of Benezette School, was a homemaker, and also worked at Sylvania during WWII. She lived all her life in Bennetts Valley and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by 13 children, Robert J. Burke of Falls Creek, Anthony "Tony" Burke of Emporium, Reginald Burke of Benezette, Theresa Burke of Ridgway, Michael Burke of Caledonia, Carter Burke of Gloucester, Mass., Stanley Burke of Caledonia, Marion Shadduck of Byrnedale, William Burke of Emporium, Marylin Cortina of Force, Maria Beers of DuBois, Mona Burke of Caledonia, and Marlena Fox of Caledonia; 52 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jean Crowley of Rimersburg, Catherine Facchine of New Jersey, and Mickey Parziale of Weedville.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Beabout and Marion Burke; a granddaughter, Sheila Winslow; and two great-grandsons, Tristan Burke and David Burke.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leonore T. Burke will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21 at St. Joseph Church in Force with Father Thomas Tyler as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Cecelia Cemetery in Benezette.
Visitation will be held at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home in Penfield on Sunday, Jan. 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 21 from 8:30-9:30 a.m.
Memorials, if desired, can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
