Connecticut Governor. He served as director of the Connecticut Computing Machine Company, the C.S. Mersick Iron Company, and several other corporations. Entering politics, he was a member of the Connecticut State Senate (1903 to 1905) and President of the New Haven Connecticut Chamber of Commerce (1905 to 1907). He also served as the 71st Connecticut Lieutenant Governor (1905 to 1907). In 1907, he was elected as a Republican, the 62nd Governor of Connecticut, serving until 1909. During his term, he was a proponent of conventional Republican issues. He vetoed several acts of the legislature when the state financial system or budget needed his protection. After leaving office, he retired from public service and resumed his previous business interests until his death.
