"Died at Hooks.
After a short illness, Mr. William Hooks, aged 84 years, died at his home in Hooks Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr. Hooks was a prominent planter of that community and will be greatly missed by his numerous friends. His remains were carried to Pittsview Monday, the interrment [sic] being in the cemetery at that place."
