Mr. Bodie died Saturday, October 4, 2003. Born in Newberry, he was the son of the late Josiah Walter and Mary Bright Bodie.
A Navy veteran of W.W. II, he was a crew member on the U.S.S. Philadelphia. He had retired from the Columbia Fire Department after 33 years of service. He was an active member of Firefighters Union #793 INAFF.
Surviving are his wife, Helen McGee Bodie; son and daughter-in-law, Jesse W. and Patricia Bodie of Powder Springs, Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen E. and Bill Reese of Mobile, Ala. and Winnie E. and Jim Garkish of Columbia; son-in-law, Jerry Fisher of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Vivian Bodie Castleberry of Deltona, Fla.; brother, Bill Bodie of Texas; sister, Helen Riggins of Columbia; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by son, Alvin Graham "Buster" Bodie and daughter, Mary Lee Fisher.
