Funeral services for Mrs. Anna J. Sorlie, 60, of Maddock were conducted from the North Viking Lutheran Church in Maddock on Friday. She died on the preceding Monday in Memorial Hospital, Maddock, where she had been a patient for a short time. Rev. Elmo Anderson and Rev. Ronald Nordin officiated. Casket bearers were six nephews: Rodney Lee, Donald Butts, Ardell Gigstad, Dean Sorlie, Erling Olson and Kenneth Sorlie. Miss Gilma Hovland was the organist and accompanied Mrs. Elmo Anderson, soloist. Wheeler Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements. Anna Johanna Lageson was born on 5 Feb 1909 the daughter of Lage and Mathilda Lageson in Wells County near Heimdal. She attended Norway Lake School near her home and worked for a time continuing to reside at her parental home. On 16 Jul 1946 she was married to Colgate O. Sorlie at the Viking Lutheran Church. After their marriage the couple lived in Minnewaukan for one year and in 1947 they moved to Mrs. Sorlie's parental farm where they lived until 1956. They then moved to a farm west of Maddock in Hesper township. In 1963 Mrs. Sorlie moved to Maddock after the death of her husband on 4 Jun 1963. Mrs. Sorlie was a member of the North Viking Church and its ALCW and was also a circle officer. She was a Sunday school teacher and member of Arne Homemakers Club. She was also a leader of Arne Farmerettes 4-H Club for many years. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James (Colleen) Erickson of Fargo; a brother, Henry Lageson of Heimdal, and three sisters, Mrs. Rudolph (Alice) Gigstad and Mrs. Earl (Laura) Olson both of Maddock and Mrs. LaVerne (Sylvia) Butts of Minnewaukan. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Iver Lageson, Anders Lageson and Andrew Lageson.
