She loved and worked with him in the accounting business until his death in 1989. June attended Blackburn College, Lincoln Land Community College and Brown's Business College. She took great pride in her employment record in and around Springfield with Franklin Life Insurance Company, Edwards Jewelers, Murphy Accounting Service, The Illinois State Library and with the Republican Party on many campaigns. June was an active member of Sugar Creek United Methodist Church, First Christian Church, Illinois Homemaker's Extension Association, and Retired State Employees Association of Illinois. She was a Project Advocate Ombudsman, a member of the Springfield Motor Boat Club and numerous bridge clubs around Springfield. June T. Murphy lived an active life, enriched many people's lives and left the world a better place. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Zennadda Cornwell; and two brothers, John and George Howarth.
She is survived by two sons, Robert and Michael; two grandsons,; two great-grandchildren,
She had very strong ties with family members from the state of Missouri.
Burial will be at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery
