Daughter of James Langley and Margaret M. (Norris) Langley. Family relocated from Laurel Co., KY to Madison County, AR ca. 1900. Millie was married three times, and left Arkansas with her second husband, Albert Mitchell, and her daughter Opal Carmon (from Millie's first marriage) in the 1920's.

Death notice from The Elmira Advertiser (Elmira, NY) of Monday, January 24, 1944:

"Mrs. Millie F. Freeman, 64, Van Etten. At the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ward Benjamin, Spencer, Sunday, Jan. 23, 1944. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Benjamin, with whom she resided; brother, Cleveland Langley, St. Paul, Ark.; three grandchildren. The body is at Arnold Funeral Home, Van Etten, where funeral will be held Wednesday, 2 p. m. Rev. Henry C. Sears, Canfield Memorial Cemetery, Van Etten."

Notes: The death year engraved in her (shared) marker is wrong. The marker was not erected until the early 1990's and her two surviving grandchildren (my mother & my Uncle) thought they "remembered" her death occurring in 1942 and had it engraved accordingly. However I later found her obituary in a newspaper published in 1944. Also—Millie's birth year is a bit uncertain. There seems to be little agreement in census or other records as to when she was born. I have chosen to use the date found in the handwritten record of the James Langley family now in my possession but the date of the document itself is not known. The birth year in the handwritten record (1888) does concur with the date engraved on her (shared) grave marker.
