William "Bill" Arthur Mahaffey, 78, of Chubbuck, Idaho went to be with the Lord on Wedneday, March 19, 2014.
Bill was born on October 20, 1935, in Sterling Colorado to Clarence and Grace Mahaffey and was one of ten children. He attended Lincoln Grade School, Sterling Middle School and Logan County High School. After high school, Bill served 6 years in the US Army.
In 1967, Bill met his friend and the love of his life, JoLynn Sorensen. They married a year later in Pocatello, Idaho and had three daughters. They also helped raise 14 foster children.
Bill drove truck for Garrett Freightliners for 10 years before purchasing the Swan Valley Centre in Condon, Montana. Bill and JoLynn were owners/operators of the store until 1993 when they sold the business. Bill later took a job at the State of Montana Department of Transportation in 1995 where he plowed the highways of the Swan Valley and retired in 2000.
In 2003, they moved to Sun City, Arizona but Bill soon missed having four seasons during the year and in 2007, they made their home in Chubbuck, Idaho.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman and spent countless hours hunting, camping and fishing. The highlight of his past few summers was Dylan and Mason, his grandsons, spending the summer with him. He brought them to know the Lord. Bill was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandpa and friend and will be missed every day.
Bill is preceded in death by: his parents, Clarence and Grace Mahaffey, brothers, Clarence, Glen, Edward, Robert LeRoy, sister, Arlene McIntyre and grandson William "Bryan".
He is survived by: his wife of 45 years, JoLynn Mahaffey, daughters, Teresa Mahaffey of Palmer, Alaska, KayLee Weeks of Kapolei, Hawaii, and Holly (Marvin) White of Denver, Colorado, nine grandchildren: Shelby (Mike) Daniels, Samantha, Briana, Ashlyn, Taylor, Dylan, Tyler, Mason and Hailey, great-grandchildren, Maggie Rose, sisters, Betty Heuck, Mary Whitcomb, Rita Schuler, Glenda McPhie and a brother, Donald Mahaffey.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday March 24, 2014 at Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road, Chubbuck, Idaho. Interment will follow services at Mountain View Cemetery, 1520 S. 4th Ave, Pocatello, Idaho. Donations in Bill's honor can be made to: Access Homecare and Hospice, 240 W. Burnside Ave., Ste.
