Fred A. Fredrich, Supervisor For 32 Years, Dies. (Photo)
REEDSVILLE--Fred A, Fredrich, 84, of Maple Grove, whose 32 year span on the County Board of Supervisors set a record when he retired from public life in 1951, died Saturday night at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay.
Fredrich, whose public life dates back before the turn of the century, when he was chosen a town assessor, and who represented his district in the state legislature for four years, had been in failing health in recent months.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the St. John-James Evangelical Lutheran Church in which he was a congregation officer for many years. The Rev. John Wendland will officiate. Members of the County Board, town and county officers will attend the rites. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was born on the Fredrich homestead farm in Maple Grove in 1870 and on Dec. 7, 1900, married Miss Mathilda Krueger. He operated the farm for many years.

Took Early Interest
In his early life Fredrich took an active interest in school district, town and church affairs. His first public office was assessor of Maple Grove, serving four years. He was chosen town chairman and the Maple Grove representative on the County Board in 1912. He was first named
chairman in 1920, served again in 1924 to 1934, and then served from 1947 until his retirement.
In 1923, voters of the second assembly district elected Fredrich to the lower house of the legislature at Madison and here served two terms—four years. He was a school district clerk in his town for 13 years, served many years as president of the Rockland Insurance Company, starting in 1922, and also headed the State Mutual Insurance Association for several years.
Fredrich was also a member of the trustees of the Maple Crest sanatorium at Whitelaw, during years when he was not on the county board. He was a trustee and president of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Reedsville.
In March, 1951, when Fredrich announced he would not be a candidate for a new term on the County Board and was retiring also as chairman of the board, he was the guest at a testimonial dinner. He was presented with a gold watch
by board members. It was made by G. K. Berge of Valders, then vice chairman, who succeeded Fredrich as board chairman.

Often Visited Sessions
Even after his retirement, Fredrich maintained his interest in county affairs.
He was a frequent visitor at later county board sessions.
Surviving are a son, Hugo, of Manitowoc; two daughters, Mrs. Albert Goemann of Two Rivers and Mrs. Arthur Bubolz of Reedsville; brother, William of Shawano; sister, Mrs. Albertina Indra of Manitowoc; three grandchildren and
a great grandchild. Mrs. Fredrich died in 1950.
Friends may call at the Reedsville Funeral Home. The casket will be moved the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
