This is her obituary:ALVA 'GO-DI-GE-WI' KINGFISHER
JAY, Okla. - Alva "Go-di-ge-wi" Kingfisher, 102, died Saturday, November 24,
2001 at the Grand Lake Villa Nursing Home in Grove. Mrs. Kingfisher was born
March 12, 1899 to Peter and Rachel (Hider) Nix at Stilwell, Okla. She was a
homemaker and a member of the Hillside Baptist Church in Jay. She was married to
Lewis Kingfisher. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include: six nephews; Alfred Nix, Kansas, Okla., Leo Nix, Van Buren,
Ark., Joe Dennis, Southwest City, Mo., Leroy Dennis, Tulsa, Okla., Edward
Dennis, Winfield, Kan., and Leo Dennis, Paris, Texas; eight nieces, Ailene
Handle Dude, Peridot, Ariz., and Sarah Feather, Peggy Masters, and Melba Cate,
all of Jay, Meda Nix, Pawnee, Okla., Edna Mitchell, Tulsa, Okla., Ella Mae
Chewey, Stilwell, Okla., and Gladys Owens, Winfield, Kan., and numeros great
nieces and great nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, at the Sycamore Springs Baptist
Church in Jay. Rev. Richard Pickup to officiate. Interment will be in Sycamore
Springs Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 6 p.m. Monday at the
Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay.
