Alma C. Henry"Alm-B"1935-2014Peacefully departed this life February 17, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 4, 1935 in Ditchley, VA.She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus Alonzo(Lonnie)Curry and Mary Elizabeth Gibson(Minnie)Curry; her husband of 48 years William Alfred Henry; her siblings , Hovey Curry, Rose Seeger, Virginia Morgan, and Rosamond Curry.She married William Alfred Henry on June 13, 1959. From this union there were five children.Alma attend the schools in Northumberland County, VA graduating from Julius Rosenwald High School. Alma was baptized at an early age and became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Kilmarnock, VA. She was also a member of Calvary Baltimore Club, Baltimore, MD.During William's 26 year military career, she accompanied her husband to Bolling AFB, Washington, DC,where she attended Mary Washington School of Cosmetology; Ramstein AFB, Germany; Offutt AFB, Nebraska(two tours); Lajes Field, Azores, Portugal; Topeka, KS and Salina, KS while her husband was stationed at Udorn AB, Thailand during the Vietnam War, and lastly Andrews AFB, MD. They settled in Camp Springs, MD in October 1980 where she began her career at the Base Exchange, Credit Union associate at Andrews AFB, and various Before and After Care Day Care Facilities in the Temple Hills/Clinton MD area retiring in 2004.She leaves tho cherish her mamory five children; Ava Stanley TSgt, USAF(retired) of Upper Marlboro, MD; Lisa Marie Henry, SMSgt. (retired) of Byron, GA; Paul Vincent Henry, LTCOL, USMC (Eva), of Sun City, CA, Michele Renee Henry of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Kevin Louis Henry, Sr. (Angela) of Laurel, MD; five grandchildren, Michael A. Stanley, Michaela Henry, Kirk Henry, Megan Henry, and Kevin L. Henry, Jr.; one great grandchild, Christian Blair; sisters, Thelma Fisher of Weems, VA, Margaret Hawkins of Oxon Hill, MD, Eldine Curry of Camp Springs, MD, Carolyn Curry and Josephine Brown of Kilmarnock, VA; brothers James "JC" (Shirley) Curry of Lancaster, VA, Joseph (Rosa) Curry, Carroll (Maria) Curry, Morgan (Geraldine) Curry, Floyd Curry all of Kilmarnock, VA and William "Bill" Curry of White Stone, VA; brothers-in-law Clifton Henry, Nick (Doris) Henry and Wallace (Phyllis) Henry of White Stone, VA, Leon Henry of Wildwood, NJ; sisters-in-law Virginia Thomas and Ann Henry of White Stone, VA; special sons Kenneth Burley of Upper Marlboro, MD and James Payne of Halifax, VA; special daughter Dawn Ricketts; very close friend Shirley Harris and a host of family, friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22 at Corinthian Baptist Church, 6705 Good Luck Rd. Lanham, MD 20706. Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the following: Walter Reed National Medical Center, MedStar Health Visiting Nurse Assn., Bethesda Health and Rehabilitation Center, Adventist Home Assistance, and Evercare Hospice & Palliative Care for their support, kindness and gentle care of our mother during her time of illness.
