A Mass of Christian burial for Eileen H. Gatz, a registered nurse and insurance specialist, was held June 28 at St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Clarksville.
Mrs. Gatz, who lived in Ellicott City, died June 26 after four-year battle with cancer. She was 51.
Born in Bloomington, Ind., the former Eileen Coonrod was a graduate of Marion College in Indianapolis.
She worked at hospitals in Indianapolis until moving in 1966 to Madison, Wis., where she worked at the Veterans Hospital and was active with the Girl Scouts.
She moved in 1973 to Fairfax, Va., where she was a nurse at Commonwealth Hospital and also worked for the United Services Automobile Association insurance company.
She started her own insurance consulting business in the earl1980s and continued it after to moving to Ellicott City six years ago.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Robert Gatz; three daughters, Diane L. Botset of Chester, Va., Cindy L. Rexford of Fairfax, Va., and Cathy A. Kaufman of Richmond, Va.; a son, Douglas J. Gatz of Annandale, Va.; her parents, Mary and Clarence Coonrod of Richmond, Ind.; two brothers, Donald Coonrod of Frankfurt, Ky., and John Coonrod of Dayton, Ohio; and two sisters, Sister Michael Mary Coonrod of Bethlehem, Conn., and Alice Mlekush of Helena, Mont.
The family suggested that contributions be sent to The Abby of Regina Laudis, Flanders Road, Bethlehem, Conn. 06715.
