South Glens Falls - Jane H. Varney, 77, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

Born Jane Louise Hinckley on June 5, 1936 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Louis Hinckley and Olive (Guyot) Hinckley.

Jane graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1954.

After graduation she went to work for Hillman Brothers Trucking Company.

In 1954 Jane married James Varney, they went on to have two sons.

Jane and Jim were married for 56 years until Jim's passing in 2010.

In 1963 Jane began working for the South Glens Falls School District, retiring in 1992 as the Harrison Avenue Elementary School library aide.

Jane was an avid bowler and won many individual and team awards. Jane and Jim were passionate hockey fans holding season tickets to the Adirondack Red Wings for 19 years.

In her free time she enjoyed reading and solving Sudoku puzzles. She enjoyed her monthly lunch gatherings with her high school girlfriends. She was an excellent cook and was always ready with food and goodies.

Some of her favorite memories were of time spent at their camp on the Hudson River swimming and water skiing.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband James, and her beloved dog Misty.

Arrangements by the Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 94 Saratoga Ave, South Glens Falls.

Burial will take place in the spring at Southside Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
