Frank Knepper, 60, of Highfield, who was struck by the machine of Ennis S. Pfoutz, Waynesboro, on the Leitersburg Pike at 9:15 o'clock last night, died at the hospital at 11:30 o'clock.

Knepper was walking toward Leitersburg when struck by the Pfoutz car. Justice Richard H. Sweeney, acting coroner, questioned Pfoutz, Clarence Richardson.and Misses Hilda Peiffer and Elizabeth Shockey, all of Waynesboro, this morning and deemed an inquest unnecessary. Richardson and the two girls were occupants of the Pfoutz machine.

They said it was raining at the time and that they did not see Knepper until the car was within a few feet of him. Pfoutz stopped and took the injured man to the hospital, where he died several hours later from a fractured skull and other injuries.
