Mary Catherine (Gosz) Rohrer, age 93, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life on Wednesday morning, March 19, 2014.
Mary was born on March 30, 1920 in Reedsville, daughter of the late Peter & Rose (Stefl) Gosz. She was a graduate of Reedsville High School, with the Class of 1938 and Holy Family School of Nursing in 1941. Mary was employed at Holy Family Hospital and Sheboygan Memorial Hospital. Mary worked in the First Aid Department for the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company when 7,000 workers were employed during World War II, building submarines. Mary spent many years in public health nursing and served the residents of the city and county of Manitowoc. Mary enjoyed her opportunity of being a school nurse. She relished the visits she made to first time mothers and their precious newborns. On May 8, 1943 she married Paul William Rohrer, who preceded her in death on May 23, 1995. Mary was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish where she was a member of the Catholic Woman's Club and the St. Clare Society.
Together they raised their seven children: three sons and daughters-in-law: Peter & Carol Rohrer, Kalamazoo, MI, James & Karen Rohrer, Tucker, GA, John & Sue Rohrer, Manitowoc; four daughters and sons-in-law: Dr. Mary Moskoff & Vern Haubrich, Madison, Elizabeth & Greg Dufek, Manitowoc, Martha & Greg Vande Leest, Kohler, Dr. Ann Marie Krejcarek & Randy Krejcarek, San Francisco, CA. She was proud to be grandmother and great grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren: Chris (Debora) Rohrer, Vivian, Thomas, Ellery, Nicholas Rohrer (fiancé Kerry) Gardocki), Maleah Moskoff (Dan LaCloche), Ben, Seth (Jessica) Vande Leest, Jacob & Riley, Nathaniel (Kathryn) Vande Leest, Rose Rohrer (Justin Bendell), Emily Rohrer, James (Lindsay) Krejcarek, Ella, Mark (Marisa) Krejcarek, Rose, Myles & Peter Krejcarek. She is also survived by her two sisters: Florence Brunner and Marcella Geiger, both of Manitowoc; and a sister-in-law: Helen Gosz. Green Bay. She was proud to be godmother to Steve Brunner, Rose Ann Kowitz and Thu Nguyen. Mary is also survived by her loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her in-laws: Ella & William Rohrer; her brothers: John and Rev. Isadore Gosz; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Don Brunner, LeRoy Geiger, Al & Clara Rohrer, Francis & Tillie Rohrer, Joseph Rohrer, Marcella Rohrer, Cecelia & Fred Scholten, Theresa & George Hauser, Pauline & Clem Bodus and Gertrude & Leonard Franzen.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall - 1114 South 21st Street, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. David Beaudry with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall, Manitowoc, from 9:00 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 until 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Mary's name.

Mary's faith was an integral part of her life. She treasured her faith, family and friends. She served her parish in many ways. She taught CCD and was a member of both the Roncalli High School and former St. Mary School Board of Education's. Singing in the Resurrection Choir brought her much joy. She loved music and was proud to be the cousin of Romy Gosz, the Polka King. She loved to bake kolaches and dinner rolls (love buns). She was happy sharing them with family and friends.
Mary's family would like to thank all of her kind and compassionate caregivers in the past years. A special heart felt thank you to the staff of Holy Family Memorial Hospice. A loving thank you to Tom Drill for his many visits, letters and unconditional friendship. Mary was inspired by the motto of Pope John Paul II "Be Not Afraid"
