God saw that Virginia was tired, so He called her home. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as she passed from this life at Rapides Regional Medical Center on September 11, 2017.

She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an artist and found beauty in the simple things in life. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. She watched over her entire family and was an active part of their lives, even when she was very ill. She had a degree in education from Louisiana College and taught school in Buras, LA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, James, Everett Marler and Wilma Bunch Marler; sister, Delores M. Webb and brother, J. E. Marler, II.

A bad hurricane sent her back home to Colfax where she met the love of her life, B. G. (Billy) Lutes. Virginia has two children, Julianne Despino married to Randall Despino and Billy Lutes, II married to Cheryl.

She had three grandchildren: Jonathan Everett Despino, (Amanda Fowler Despino), Emily Lutes Allen (Jared Allen) and Aimee Lutes (Dalton Kutej). Her great grandchildren are Layla Despino, Chandler Despino, Gavin Moran, Bree Moran, Kade Moran, Collin Allen, Cameron Allen, Carter Kutej and soon to be born Cash Kutej.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Despino, Jared Allen, Jonathan Allen, Jonny Thompson, Bennett Webb and Dalton Kutej.

And if she could leave us one thing it would be from Psalms 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
