On March 9, 2014, Theodore A. "Teddy" Filtz, age 67, passed away after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Born on June 30, 1946, the son of Theodore and Caroline (Marquard) Filtz, Ted served in the National Guard during the Vietnam War. He worked in construction, a builder of barns and pole buildings in his earlier years, with a cousin, Randy Wanta, for Wanta Construction Company. Later he worked for Fatello's and Hardee's in Oshkosh and a construction company in Fond du Lac.
Ted married Diane Karpinski and together they had three children, a daughter, Tammy (Donald) Lashowske, of Rosholt, Wisconsin, grandchildren, Nicole and Mitchell, and a great-granddaughter, Maci; son, James (Jenny) Filtz, of Rosholt, Wisconsin, grandchildren, Casandra, Kendra, Mylee, and Jaden; and son, Jesse (Amy) Filtz, grandchildren, Skylar Lee and Kaylee Rose.
Later, Ted married Susan Clark-Neubauer and together they had a son, Tyler (Stephanie) Filtz of Oshkosh, grandchildren, Aaron, Jaiden, Rylan, and Trevyn.
Ted then married Peggy Fritz and they had three children together, Carrie Enders of Madison, and grandchildren, Jayden and Corbin; Amber Filtz of Berlin, Wisconsin, and grandchildren, Trinity, Chasity, Klorissa, and Brandon.
Also surviving Ted are his siblings, Shirley (Damien) Dallman of Wausau, Robert (Elaine) Filtz of Rosholt, Arnold (Theresa) Filtz of Custer, Wisconsin, and Sue Rombalski of Rosholt. All together Ted had 17 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He is further survived by a long-time friend, Debbie Basting and her children, Tanya, Damion, and her grandchildren, Elijah and Giovonnie. Preceding Ted in death are his parents, an infant brother or sister, a brother-in-law, Peter Rombalski, his god-parents, Aunt Ester and Uncle Joseph Wanta.
Ted enjoyed life with his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, shooting pool, birds, and all types of outdoor sports. He was a fan of the Brewers, Packers, and NASCAR. Funeral arrangements will be finalized at a later date.
